Components Exchange Online FAQ:
What is the
Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction? Components Exchange Online's
PartsAuction is an Internet-based spot market
in Hong Kong that allows members to buy
and sell brand new electronic components anonymously and securely at
market-driven prices. Components Exchange Online provides a neutral trading
environment for the electronic manufacturing industry.
Is Components Exchange Online a Broker? No.
Components Exchange Online is neither a broker nor a distributor. We are an
infrastructure and communications provider, and a facilitator of buy
and sell transactions directly between members. Components Exchange Online does
not buy or sell components; we are neither involved with
pricing, nor do we ever take a position in any trade. Although
Components Exchange Online manages the quality assurance of traded parts, we
never stock, own or take title to any components.
What Types of
Electronic Components are Traded on the PartsAuction? The Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction is
a spot market for any part that goes onto or into a printed circuit
board, including memory, passives, logic, ICs and more.
How Large is
the Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction
Spot Market? Though we are based on the
Internet, the Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction is primarily focused on serving electronic
component buyers and sellers in Hong Kong.
Why only focus
in Hong Kong? Why not on a global basis? With
the Internet technology, it is easy for Components Exchange Online
to expand the market beyond Hong Kong but we resist that temptation
to align our strategy with our company's mission: To Be Your Partner
in Supply Chain Management. We also
found that it is extremely difficult, if not entirely impossible, to
provide tailored service to individual member if we diverge our
focus to a global one. In addition, many of our members are
worried about trading with other members which located outside Hong
Kong and are governed by different business and legal systems.
When problems in trading arise, it is far more difficult to deal
with than if all three parties (buyers, sellers, and facilitator)
are located in Hong Kong.
How
Competitive are Prices on the PartsAuction? All prices on
the Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction
are market-driven, i.e., they are reach through open auction. There is no middleman to
inflate prices for buyers or lower profit for sellers; prices are
based solely on supply and demand. For sellers, the
PartsAuction is a
cost-efficient mean to dispose inventory.
For
buyers, the PartsAuction
offers the opportunity of buying new components at cost or even
below.
What is the
Cost of Trading on the Components Exchange Online's PartsAuction? Components Exchange Online charges no subscription fees, nor are there fees for part searches
or for posting Sell Lots or Bids on the PartsAuction. For each completed transaction, there is an
5% transaction fee charged to the seller ONLY as described in the Terms
and Conditions.
Why is Anonymous
Trading Important? Anonymous trading
allows Components Exchange Online to provide a completely level "playing field"
for all buyers and sellers. For buyers, no one will know your company
has an urgent need to buy parts. In addition, no
one can make assumptions about prices you may be willing to pay
based on the size of your company. For sellers, your need to move a
large volume of parts inventory will never be publicized.
